Omni Persistence Results in Levies Being Released
A military school commander, who decided to hire Omni, owed the IRS $35,000. When Omni got on the case, they tried many times unsuccessfully to contact the Revenue Officer in charge. To their surprise, the officer issued a levy against the client with no warning.
Over several weeks, Omni called the Revenue Officer with no success and then the Group Manager. After the call to the Group Manager, the Revenue Officer called Omni, admitting that he had not returned any of their correspondence because he was scared of the client. He also refused to change the status of the levy.
After that call, Omni contacted the IRS Territory Manager. Because 21 days had passed since the levy was issued, it could not be released. Instead, the Territory Manager sent a refund check for the full amount captured (just under $30,000).
Via letter, Omni thanked the IRS for the refund and proposed a resolution strategy. When they did not hear back from the Revenue Officer, they began implementing the resolution strategy. Yet again, the client was levied. This time, when Omni called the Group Manager, the Group Manager released the levy, saying that the Revenue Officer had failed to follow procedure on other occasions.
